Lake Inba, Chiba
Kaneto Shindo shot the entire film in the towering susuki grass on a riverbank beside the Inba marsh, housing his crew in prefab huts on the spot for the summer. The lake is still there in Chiba Prefecture with public paths and cycle routes along its banks.
