  The Villa Wesendonck in the Rietberg museum park served as the exterior of the Richard Wagner Academy for girls. The museum is open to visitors and the park is free to walk through.

• Urnasch, Appenzell Ausserrhoden

  The opening sequence, in which a young tourist misses the bus on a lonely country road and stumbles into the killer's house, was shot on the lanes around Urnasch. The village is a working Appenzell farming community reachable by the Appenzeller Bahnen railway.

• Thur waterfalls, Alt St. Johann

  One of the murders plays out at the Thur waterfalls in the Toggenburg valley below the Churfirsten peaks. The falls are on a marked public hiking route between Unterwasser and Alt St. Johann.
