- 875 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago
The black cross-braced tower where Carol Anne stays with her aunt and uncle, and where the mirrors turn against everyone, is the former John Hancock Center. It still stands on the Magnificent Mile and the observation deck is open as 360 Chicago.
- Water Tower Place, Chicago
The crossing escalators in the mall sequence were shot at Water Tower Place, directly across Michigan Avenue from the Hancock tower. The mall is still open, although many of its upper floors have emptied out.
- 1435 North Astor Street, Chicago
Carol Anne's school was shot at this building on the Gold Coast's Astor Street, a block of protected nineteenth-century mansions. The block is PRIVATE property: walk the sidewalk and do not enter any gate.
