Abbeville's central square plays the town of Arborville, California, and is where most of the street-level chaos was filmed. The square is still the heart of the Abbeville Commercial Historic District and the town screens the film here.

The movie house where the blob comes through the projection booth and the audience is trapped. The building is still on South Jefferson Street but no longer operates as a cinema.
