• Sherman Oaks Galleria

  The killbot rampage was shot after hours in the enclosed Sherman Oaks Galleria, the mall that also defined Valley Girl and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The indoor mall closed in 1999 after earthquake damage and was rebuilt as an open-air retail and office center, so the interiors from the film no longer exist.

• Beverly Center, Los Angeles

  The Park Plaza Mall exteriors were shot at the Beverly Center, which had originally been the planned location for the whole film. The mall is still open and was given a major redesign in 2018.
