• Celtic Street, Chatsworth

  The ruined Cuesta Verde of the opening credits was staged on Celtic Street, where the crew put up false-front houses and a condemned sign beside the empty lot standing in for the Freeling home. The street is now fully built out with ordinary houses, so nothing of the set remains.

• Spider Rock, Canyon de Chelly

  The twin sandstone spire that Taylor and the family visit in the Navajo Nation sequences rises 750 feet from the canyon floor. It is viewed from the Spider Rock Overlook on the South Rim Drive, and the canyon floor itself can only be entered with a Navajo guide.
