Where was The Wicker Man (1973) filmed?
6 locations on the HorrorMeet Atlas.
- Burrow Head
The clifftop where the wicker man burns and Sergeant Howie screams. Two charred stumps of the second effigy stood in this field for decades. Bring a coat.
- Anwoth Old Kirk
The deconsecrated ruin and graveyard where Howie finds Rowan's grave with a hare in the coffin, plus the maypole dance nearby. Still roofless, still unsettling.
- Culzean Castle
Christopher Lee's Lord Summerisle lives here, at least on the outside. Robert Adam's clifftop castle on the Ayrshire coast, now National Trust for Scotland.
- St Ninian's Cave
The sea cave where Howie finally finds Rowan, right before he understands the trap. A genuine early Christian pilgrimage site, reached on foot down a wooded glen.
- Plockton Harbour
Howie's seaplane taxis in to Summerisle right here on Loch Carron, then he walks the seafront asking about a missing girl. Filmed over four days in 1972 and barely changed.
- Ellangowan Hotel, Creetown
The interior of the Green Man Inn, where Britt Ekland's Willow sings and the locals close ranks on Sergeant Howie. Still a hotel on Creetown's St John Street.
