Where was 28 Days Later (2002) filmed?
12 locations on the HorrorMeet Atlas.
- Westminster Bridge
Jim crosses the empty bridge toward the Houses of Parliament in the film's most copied image. The crew held traffic for a few minutes at a time in the early hours on Sundays to get it.
- Horse Guards Parade
Part of Jim's walk through a deserted central London after he wakes in the hospital. The parade ground is open to the public and still used for ceremonial duties.
- Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, Piccadilly Circus
The fountain, commonly called Eros, appears boarded up and covered in missing person notices. It sits in the middle of Piccadilly Circus and is one of the easiest shots in the film to stand in.
- Centre Point, New Oxford Street
The 1960s tower at St Giles Circus features in the abandoned West End sequence. It was converted into apartments in the 2010s.
- Royal Exchange, City of London
Jim wanders through the deserted financial district past the Royal Exchange on Cornhill. The building now houses shops and restaurants under its portico.
- St Anne's Church, Limehouse
The Hawksmoor church where Jim finds bodies in the pews and is attacked by the infected priest. It is a working parish church in Tower Hamlets.
- Limehouse Link tunnel
The tunnel chase, with the taxi reversing away from the infected in the dark, was shot here rather than the Blackwall Tunnel. It is a busy road tunnel, so this one is for looking at from street level.
- 145 Tottenham Court Road
The supermarket looting scene, where the survivors calmly stock up on single malt, was shot in what was then a Budgens. The shop has since become a Lidl.
- Central Middlesex Hospital, Acton Lane
Part of the deserted hospital where Jim wakes from his coma, cut together with the now demolished Greenwich District Hospital. Central Middlesex is still an NHS hospital site.
- Waverley Abbey, Surrey
The ruined Cistercian abbey near Farnham where the group rests on the road north. The ruins are free to visit and looked after by English Heritage.
- Trafalgar House, Wiltshire
The country mansion that Major West's soldiers hold as their blockade headquarters, five miles south of Salisbury. It is a PRIVATE HOUSE, hired out for weddings and events rather than open for tours.
- Ennerdale Water, Cumbria
The final act, with the cottage and the enormous cloth sign laid out for the passing jet, was shot around this Lake District lake. It is the quietest of the major lakes and has no road along its shore.
